Benefit Memorial for Angie Zapata

Everyone!
No matter what is determined by the Authorities in Greeley, Colorado, I am thoroughly convinced that Angie Zapata was savagely attacked and killed in the hideous manner that she was, mainly because she was a Trans-woman.
Though I did not know her personally, her death caused me to weep off and on a number of days when I heard of it. Because she was in a real sense, one of my sisters. One of many whom I have worked hard for as a Colorado Transgender Activist to help get viable, practical and enforceable laws passed which would in the end make life much better for us all.
Trans-inclusive laws are great - but as seen here, no manner of legislation can totally stop hate-driven outlaws from falling upon their hapless victims to take even their very lives from them.
In keeping with the theme of my blog, I have entitled this sad entry in part: "Knockin' on Heaven's Door", since that's one of my favorite Bob Dylan songs - and I sincerely believe that if we were to go see Angie right now, we would have to knock upon the glorious Portal and Entryway to the sublime regions of Heaven to visit with her. Because that must be where she is today - totally blessed with the incomparable beauty and unspeakable peace which she probably sought time and time again, while in this earthly realm.
Her friends and loved ones, nevertheless, miss her...
Meanwhile. what can we in the Greater Community do to show our love and sympathy?
Please consider this: Either contribute to this most worthy Memorial Fund or attend the associated event, which happens Sunday, July 27, 2008.
It is one small way to both help ease the pain of Angie's grieving family and also stand in solidarity against the kind of hatred and senseless violence that took her life.
Sincerely,
Nancy-Jo Morris
