My name is Ruth which means “friend” my birth name is David. I’m tall 6’5” and have known my entire life I was trans. Until the last decade or so I didn’t really know what to call it. I was raised in a conservative religious upbringing and struggled with my life as if I was just a very sinful sexual deviant person. I tried to suppress so often, playing football in high school when I desperately wanted to be the cheer leader. Joining the army after high school. Not just the army but then attending West Point. I bought clothes and purged and bought and purged and for a time I was treated for bipolar which I’m not, and the drugs stripped me of all emotion and I still wanted to be the girl I felt inside. After coming off those drugs I began therapy 1 year ago and hrt 6 months ago. I am wearing female clothes nearly every day now just not at work. I have gone through about 40 hours of electrolysis and am going to have a surgical consult next year. I am a nurse I love my job but wish I could be accepted as another woman in the field.
